Recently I found myself intensely thinking!!! Now that's dangerous! I got lost in the thoughts of why I am here...Have you ever wondered what life would be like without YOU? I think what prompted these thoughts was the old but amazing movie, "It's a Wonderful Life!" George Bailey just couldn't really understand what life would be like without him, so his angel had to come and rescue him by allowing him to see what his life would have been like without him. Well you and I don't get that opportunity so we'll have to be satisfied with knowing that God has placed us here for such a time as this. But, we must understand that being here doesn't mean that we have nothing to do! Rather, we have all been given an earthly assignment with a heavenly origin. I truly believe that I can make a difference because that is what God has given me a passion me to do. Think about this....you have something that someone else needs. What? You may be thinking that's a joke .........Well that's what God wants to reveal to you....How can we know just what that life assignment is? You must get to know the author and the finisher of your faith. You must know God in a most intimate way, spending quality time with him and allowing him time to speak. God does speak, but there are many noises that crowd him out. Prayer and private time with God will reveal him in a greater measure. He longs for those moments with you, not only does he want to hear your voice, but he wants to embrace you and answer you. God wants and desires to be right in the middle of your life; after all, he knows the beginning, the middle and the end of your assignment......
I must admit there are times that I feel I have accomplished little and I have thoughts of, "Why am I here?" But, at the end of the day, I have to believe that God chose me to be here, now and the journey that I have embarked on keeps me focused on the revelation of my assignment every day. Just like "George" in the story, I have often thought life would probably be better without me, but this is a common trick that Satan uses on us at our weakest moments. Idleness breeds unrest and unrest breeds discouragement and then that opens a Pandora box of negative thoughts and emotions that end up causing distractions and broken focus.
This is a wonderful Season of giving and receiving. Christmas has a way of reminding us that we have been given an awesome and special gift....And it is this gift that when we embrace Jesus Christ that he then creates that assignment in our lives. Jesus had a purpose for coming to this earth and you and I have a purpose to fulfill as well. As this year closes and we prepare to begin a new one, make it a priority to seek the Lord on behalf of the assignment that he has for you.
And remember this......"Life would certainly be different without you here!"
From my home to yours,
I wish for you a Blessed Season of Remembrance and a Very Merry Christmas!
