Recently I was pondering about my life and then I thought, "What does people really see when they look at me?" Suddenly the return response was, "I want them to see Jesus!" Isn't that true of all of us, that we want to be a living example of Jesus everyday? Maybe it's not common place to constantly be thinking about our actions and reactions, but ya know.....I think we should! Some interactions may only be one time and making a lasting impression is vital. It is so easy to be lazy in dealing with other people. Often we take for granted how important that impression really is. My Mother was a graceful "lady!" She was constantly teaching me through my growing years that, my first meeting with someone should be so special that they were sure not to forget me! Well I'm sure that's true but maybe not for the reasons she was referring to!!!
I want to live my life in such a way that it makes God look really good! I want to live my life filled with hope even in critical situations. What really moves people toward wanting to know what we have? It 's a life filled with joy and peace even in the midst of tragedies. The world offers little comfort when disaster strikes, but the true follower of Christ yields a completely different reaction.
I promise you that someone is always watching your life and they may know more about you, than you do! Wow, that's scarey! One of the girls that help me in my ministry one day was telling me all about my pulpit habits.....I was amazed and replied, "I think you have heard me preach way too much!" (Smile), But it's true, other people pick up on things that we don't even realize. Okay so if people are watching, better give them something absolutely positive to pick up on!! Only Christ working through us can assure that our reactions and responses will be acceptable and appropriate in every situation.
So today, I ask you, what kind of impression are you making? Something now for you to ponder!
"For to this you have been called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his footsteps." I Peter 2:21
