Be a Good Example

Please read Proverbs 17:10 through 19:29; 1 Corinthians 10:1 through 11:1

Whether people like it or not, they are examples to others. Ancient Israel set a good example and experienced God’s blessings, but they also had some spectacular failures.

These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us (1 Corinthians 10:11).

We can learn from both good and bad examples. Thankfully, Paul did not keep his readers guessing about which example(s) to follow. He points all people to Jesus, the ultimate example of how to live. Paul even challenged his followers to follow him—but only as he followed the example of Christ (1Corinthians 11:1).

Leaders today can issue that same challenge and proceed to set a good example by following Christ. Leaders are human, however, so each believer needs ultimately to look to Christ to determine how to live. As you make choices in life, ask whether your decisions are good examples for others to follow.

Thought for Today: As I live to please Christ—following His example—I will impact the lives of others for good.
